Aisle Runner Ideas

Hey everyone!  I turned again to Pinterest for today’s blog idea…Aisle Runners!  Since the aisle runner is featured during your ceremony it is a great way to set the tone of your wedding.  You can go super traditional with a simple white or ivory, spice it up with an unexpected color or go totally crazy and tie it in with your whole theme!  There are several companies that can customize a runner for you if you wish to go a bit untraditional…some of my favorites are:

Original Runners

All About Rugs

I Do Wedding Runners

The Wedding Outlet

Plenty of party stores and craft stores also stock aisle runners for the bride on a budget.  I got our aisle runner from Oriental Trading for less than $18.  The most important thing is to make sure you measure your ceremony location before you order.  You can’t really try your runner before your ceremony and there is nothing worse than your groomsmen unrolling your aisle runner and coming up short!!  Other than that, be as creative as you would like!  It’s your big day, show who you are!

Composite Bouquets

I may as well say this now…Hello, my name is Jen and I am addicted to Pinterest.  I was going through my dashboard last night and I came across an interesting bouquet that I had only recently seen for the first time in the photos of a friend’s wedding.  I have been introduced to the world of the Composite (or Glamelia as I have discovered) bouquet.  The blog ‘First Come Flowers’ offers a really great look into what these super trendy bouquets even are.  Basically, they are a sizable bouquet that looks like one giant flower but is actually comprised of the petals of several flowers and/or plants.  They are so amazingly chic and contemporary.  They fit right in with my total obsession yesterday of finding unique bouquets and even non-floral bouquet alternatives…I will definitely be doing some follow up posts on those.  For now though, enjoy my Glamelia Inspiration Board, these breath-taking bouquets are certainly worth looking into for your own big day!!

2013 is the Year of the Emerald

Hey everyone!  Today’s wedding theme is centered around Pantone’s 2013 Color of the Year…Emerald!!  Pantone uses the words energizing, luxurious, and sophisticated to describe Emerald while the color green in general stands for luck and new life. There are so many ways to incorporate this color into your wedding, from dress accents to linens.  Emerald pairs well with so many different colors, I am going semi traditional with Emerald Green and Gold in my inspiration board but you could pair it with silver, black, sapphire blue, champagne, fuchsia, oranges, yellows, the list is endless!

My emerald green and gold inspiration board, what a trip down Google that was!  It is true that emerald has popped up in weddings everywhere!!  You can use this palette to be as elegant as you would like, or break out of the box a little and incorporate a touch a peacock!!

Water Lilies

Hey everyone!  I have such a fun filled day today, I am going for my first cake tasting for my wedding!  I hope to meet some nice people today and maybe find some vendors I can work with in the future (ya know as well as my cake LOL).  All the wedding talk around the house today had me thinking of another wedding theme idea. I am on this art kick this week so I thought I would continue on with a favorite painting of my fiance’s…Water Lilies by Claude Monet.  I especially love the colors in his Water Lilies & Willow Branches work.

When you look at this piece of artwork you get a sense of calm and beauty.  The ethereal grace that is present in this painting is a perfect feeling for a very romantic wedding.  The soft blues and greens with the colorful accents of lilac provide a wonderful color palette for a spring or summer wedding while the water lilies add a unique touch to your wedding decor that is not seen very often.  For the more traditional bride, you could go slightly more classic with small touches of the colors and do beautiful white flowers (shown in the bottom left corner of the inspiration board) while a bride who wishes to have a special flair to her wedding may use the idea to create a lovely natural pond atmosphere (center on the inspiration board, to the right of the invitation).  You could even add whimsical touches like live fish in the centerpieces, swimming under a blooming water lily.  The possibilities are endless and beautiful.

Will & I’s Wedding

Upon further reflection I suppose my first official wedding post should have been my own wedding LOL. To that I give you..,Will and I’s Wedding!!

Will and I are getting married on April 25th, 2014 at a golf course in Akron OH, we are holding our ceremony and reception in the same location. Our wedding is going to be very soft with colors of light rose and ivory, we chose to focus on Cherry Blossoms. My uncle is doing the officiating, so we are very honored to have that tie and we’ve got a great group of friends and family in our wedding party. I am so excited because we are going to have a fun little bit of entertainment between the ceremony and reception while we take photos. We just hired a balloon artist!! This kid is AMAZING, we had him at our kid’s day event where I work. And of course…while the whole wedding is going to be romantic and classic, we will be having a nod to our inner geek on our cake. We got Doctor Who salt and pepper shakers in the shape of a TARDIS and a Dalek :o) So excited! Below are some of our wedding things…the photos with the pink dots I actually took but the rest came from the websites we found them through (my bouquet picture is from my florist’s Facebook…(https://www.facebook.com/pages/Forever-Flowers/114719295220335?fref=ts) )

Enjoy and let the countdown to the big day commence!!!

A Starry Night

Starry Night by Vincent Van Gogh

Starry Night by Vincent Van Gogh

As most of my close friends and family can tell you, Starry Night by Vincent Van Gogh is my absolute FAVORITE painting ever, so it only seemed fitting that my first official wedding post be inspired by that. As a wedding theme, I think that it opens up a world of whimsy, but in a slightly darker, more edgy way than the brightly colored almost circus look that most people think of when you say whimsy. The rich color palette of dark blues’ and golds really adds a sleek look to things. Plus, how romantic is a night under the stars?

Hello World!

Whew!  My first blog…and at such a busy time in my life too.  My name is Jen and I am about to make some changes in my career.  I have decided to follow a dream I have had for awhile and pursue Wedding Planning.  A little background on how I became interested…I have been engaged to a wonderful guy for a long time.  About a year ago we finally had the funds to begin planning our wedding, which will FINALLY be taking place on April 25th, 2014.  I have been planning our wedding myself, with the help of the fiance of course, and I have been having so much fun.  I have planned a few small events over the years for the store I work at.  Just some in store promotional events, but everyone had fun and always told me I should be a party planner.  Well when it came time for my own big event I did just that.  We are now 7 months out from the big day and my planning is pretty much complete…we are just finishing payments.  Yay!  Needless to say I have become wedding obsessed! So bringing us back to present, I have found an amazing certification course through The New York Institute of Art and Design for Wedding and Event Planners that I will be taking soon.  From there I will be finding someone to work with and get some experience as well as plan a few events in exchange for experience, testimonials and photos for my portfolio (aka…free), so keep an eye on this blog I will advertise that here when the time comes.  Check out the logo I designed, I love the name I came up with for my future wedding business. It is a reference to my fiance and I’s upcoming wedding, we chose Cherry Blossoms as our wedding theme. I am super excited about this journey and hope to share some of that with some brides and grooms in years to come!
