Back Drops

Hey everyone!

Phew!  Finally back in the saddle here!

Today’s blog is all about back drops.  I have been all over pinterest lately and I have found some of the most clever ideas for wedding back drops.  A good back drop can totally transform the most mundane of spaces into a beautiful work of art, and they don’t have to be flashy to do so!  These can be used as a back drop to your ceremony, behind your head table, even as a fun photo space for you and your guests.  A good backdrop can also help to set the theme for your wedding while incorporating very little else, so they are a wonderful addition for the couple on a budget.  So be wild, be crazy, be unique, BE CREATIVE!!

Summer Fun

The summer of 2014 will be here before we know it, so what better way to celebrate then by picking out a fun palette for all those brides who are planning a wedding for then?  For my first summer inspiration board I chose a very neutral palette of ivory, white and champagne but added in hints of turquoise or teal.  This creates a very clean look, easy to make extremely elegant with crisp lines, shades of Tiffany blue and sparkle; or lean towards a more rustic vibe with ivory and ruffles and perhaps even accents of burlap.  The possibilities are endless, you can add as much color or as little as you would like.  Perhaps you go all out with full color bridesmaids dresses and matching tablecloths or maybe you keep it very neutral and only do color in shoes or the ribbon around bouquets or jewelry.  It’s all up to you, but it will look beautiful either way.

This color palette is also easy to work other colors into if you want to be a little more unique and fun in your look.  Pops of purple, orange, magenta, red, lime, brown, or yellow look amazing with turquoise and are a bit more unconventional.

Wedding Balloon Fun

Hey everyone!!  Sorry it’s been a little while since my last post, it’s been a crazy few weeks at my job.  Today’s blog post is going to be all about using balloons at your wedding.  This is one of the few decor ideas for weddings that I strongly feel there is a right way and a wrong way to handle.  Your wedding is going to be one of the most important days of your life, and you will undoubtedly want it to be elegant, if not a little fun.  Balloons done right can still invoke that, done wrong and you may as well include some elephants and clowns.  I was flipping through the latest Brides magazine (yes, I am totally using my future in wedding planning to continue my bridal magazine addiction…shh) and there was a quick little article about balloons.  They say it’s all in the shape and size and I totally agree.  if you decorate your wedding with a bunch of 12 inch traditional dollar store balloons your wedding is going to end up looking like a children’s birthday party unless you are REALLY creative.  You add a pop of fun with a giant, round 36 inch balloon with a beautiful ribbon instead of string and you are looking at easy elegance.  My favorite balloon wedding decorations that I have seen are the giant balloons with tulle wrapped over them and tied off with gorgeous flowers.  I put some examples of various ways to incorporate balloons at your wedding in the inspiration board.

Now…that is not to say you can’t have a little “circus chic” at your wedding…if you want to have fun, colorful balloons think outside the box.  We hired a super talented balloon artist to keep the kiddo’s entertained at cocktail hour!!  ( http://noahsballoonart.com/pictures.html )

Trend Report: Fall Bridal Fashion

Hey everyone!!  I just got done watching some fashion roundups of the Bridal Market Fall 2013 runway shows and let me tell you…there are some gorgeous things coming up in Bridal Fashion next year!!  One of my favorite videos was from The Huffington Post and it talked about some of the trends that were seen through different designers.  The biggest trends in Bridal Fashion were color, Halter necklines, lace sleeves, vintage glam and GOLD!  One of my personal favorites was a dress from designer Austin Scarlett, who I absolutely adore anyways since his appearance on my radar on Project Runway (and the unfortunately too short season of Austin and Santino).  It was gorgeous, super soft and ethereal like I love and it was a very soft pink, my favorite color,  The dress was simply STUNNING!  Now, pink dresses are not going to be for every bride, but it certainly makes a statement.

Aisle Runner Ideas

Hey everyone!  I turned again to Pinterest for today’s blog idea…Aisle Runners!  Since the aisle runner is featured during your ceremony it is a great way to set the tone of your wedding.  You can go super traditional with a simple white or ivory, spice it up with an unexpected color or go totally crazy and tie it in with your whole theme!  There are several companies that can customize a runner for you if you wish to go a bit untraditional…some of my favorites are:

Original Runners

All About Rugs

I Do Wedding Runners

The Wedding Outlet

Plenty of party stores and craft stores also stock aisle runners for the bride on a budget.  I got our aisle runner from Oriental Trading for less than $18.  The most important thing is to make sure you measure your ceremony location before you order.  You can’t really try your runner before your ceremony and there is nothing worse than your groomsmen unrolling your aisle runner and coming up short!!  Other than that, be as creative as you would like!  It’s your big day, show who you are!

Composite Bouquets

I may as well say this now…Hello, my name is Jen and I am addicted to Pinterest.  I was going through my dashboard last night and I came across an interesting bouquet that I had only recently seen for the first time in the photos of a friend’s wedding.  I have been introduced to the world of the Composite (or Glamelia as I have discovered) bouquet.  The blog ‘First Come Flowers’ offers a really great look into what these super trendy bouquets even are.  Basically, they are a sizable bouquet that looks like one giant flower but is actually comprised of the petals of several flowers and/or plants.  They are so amazingly chic and contemporary.  They fit right in with my total obsession yesterday of finding unique bouquets and even non-floral bouquet alternatives…I will definitely be doing some follow up posts on those.  For now though, enjoy my Glamelia Inspiration Board, these breath-taking bouquets are certainly worth looking into for your own big day!!
