Back Drops

Hey everyone!

Phew!  Finally back in the saddle here!

Today’s blog is all about back drops.  I have been all over pinterest lately and I have found some of the most clever ideas for wedding back drops.  A good back drop can totally transform the most mundane of spaces into a beautiful work of art, and they don’t have to be flashy to do so!  These can be used as a back drop to your ceremony, behind your head table, even as a fun photo space for you and your guests.  A good backdrop can also help to set the theme for your wedding while incorporating very little else, so they are a wonderful addition for the couple on a budget.  So be wild, be crazy, be unique, BE CREATIVE!!

Summer Fun

The summer of 2014 will be here before we know it, so what better way to celebrate then by picking out a fun palette for all those brides who are planning a wedding for then?  For my first summer inspiration board I chose a very neutral palette of ivory, white and champagne but added in hints of turquoise or teal.  This creates a very clean look, easy to make extremely elegant with crisp lines, shades of Tiffany blue and sparkle; or lean towards a more rustic vibe with ivory and ruffles and perhaps even accents of burlap.  The possibilities are endless, you can add as much color or as little as you would like.  Perhaps you go all out with full color bridesmaids dresses and matching tablecloths or maybe you keep it very neutral and only do color in shoes or the ribbon around bouquets or jewelry.  It’s all up to you, but it will look beautiful either way.

This color palette is also easy to work other colors into if you want to be a little more unique and fun in your look.  Pops of purple, orange, magenta, red, lime, brown, or yellow look amazing with turquoise and are a bit more unconventional.

Literary Weddings

Today’s wedding theme centers around the first love of my life (sorry honey LOL)…books!  There are so many amazing ways you can incorporate your love of literature into an amazing wedding.  Buzzfeed has a great page all about literary weddings…many of the photos for my inspiration board can be found here.  I love the classic touches to adding books into your wedding.  From paper flowers to book punch outs in your flower girl baskets, your only limit is your imagination!  Enjoy the inspiration board!

2013 is the Year of the Emerald

Hey everyone!  Today’s wedding theme is centered around Pantone’s 2013 Color of the Year…Emerald!!  Pantone uses the words energizing, luxurious, and sophisticated to describe Emerald while the color green in general stands for luck and new life. There are so many ways to incorporate this color into your wedding, from dress accents to linens.  Emerald pairs well with so many different colors, I am going semi traditional with Emerald Green and Gold in my inspiration board but you could pair it with silver, black, sapphire blue, champagne, fuchsia, oranges, yellows, the list is endless!

My emerald green and gold inspiration board, what a trip down Google that was!  It is true that emerald has popped up in weddings everywhere!!  You can use this palette to be as elegant as you would like, or break out of the box a little and incorporate a touch a peacock!!

Water Lilies

Hey everyone!  I have such a fun filled day today, I am going for my first cake tasting for my wedding!  I hope to meet some nice people today and maybe find some vendors I can work with in the future (ya know as well as my cake LOL).  All the wedding talk around the house today had me thinking of another wedding theme idea. I am on this art kick this week so I thought I would continue on with a favorite painting of my fiance’s…Water Lilies by Claude Monet.  I especially love the colors in his Water Lilies & Willow Branches work.

When you look at this piece of artwork you get a sense of calm and beauty.  The ethereal grace that is present in this painting is a perfect feeling for a very romantic wedding.  The soft blues and greens with the colorful accents of lilac provide a wonderful color palette for a spring or summer wedding while the water lilies add a unique touch to your wedding decor that is not seen very often.  For the more traditional bride, you could go slightly more classic with small touches of the colors and do beautiful white flowers (shown in the bottom left corner of the inspiration board) while a bride who wishes to have a special flair to her wedding may use the idea to create a lovely natural pond atmosphere (center on the inspiration board, to the right of the invitation).  You could even add whimsical touches like live fish in the centerpieces, swimming under a blooming water lily.  The possibilities are endless and beautiful.

Will & I’s Wedding

Upon further reflection I suppose my first official wedding post should have been my own wedding LOL. To that I give you..,Will and I’s Wedding!!

Will and I are getting married on April 25th, 2014 at a golf course in Akron OH, we are holding our ceremony and reception in the same location. Our wedding is going to be very soft with colors of light rose and ivory, we chose to focus on Cherry Blossoms. My uncle is doing the officiating, so we are very honored to have that tie and we’ve got a great group of friends and family in our wedding party. I am so excited because we are going to have a fun little bit of entertainment between the ceremony and reception while we take photos. We just hired a balloon artist!! This kid is AMAZING, we had him at our kid’s day event where I work. And of course…while the whole wedding is going to be romantic and classic, we will be having a nod to our inner geek on our cake. We got Doctor Who salt and pepper shakers in the shape of a TARDIS and a Dalek :o) So excited! Below are some of our wedding things…the photos with the pink dots I actually took but the rest came from the websites we found them through (my bouquet picture is from my florist’s Facebook…(https://www.facebook.com/pages/Forever-Flowers/114719295220335?fref=ts) )

Enjoy and let the countdown to the big day commence!!!

A Starry Night

Starry Night by Vincent Van Gogh

Starry Night by Vincent Van Gogh

As most of my close friends and family can tell you, Starry Night by Vincent Van Gogh is my absolute FAVORITE painting ever, so it only seemed fitting that my first official wedding post be inspired by that. As a wedding theme, I think that it opens up a world of whimsy, but in a slightly darker, more edgy way than the brightly colored almost circus look that most people think of when you say whimsy. The rich color palette of dark blues’ and golds really adds a sleek look to things. Plus, how romantic is a night under the stars?
